Gulab Jamun:

Samosa:

This triangular, mouth-watering cuisine has its origin in Middle East; called originally ‘sambosa’, this food was introduced to our country by middle east traders during 13th and 14th century!
Vindaloo:
The very names reminds you of Goa but this spicy curry is not Goan at all! It was first introduced by Portuguese in Goa. Originally called carne de vinha d’alhos, this spicy curry is derived from vin(wine) & alhos(garlic). Its original recipe didn’t include potatoes but we have modified it by adding ‘aloo’ so it has become Vindaloo.
Dal-Rice:
What’s more comforting than Dal-Rice? This seems very simple Indian dish loved by many, but it is not Indian. This satiating dish has its origin in Nepal and it was only through North Indian regions which have initiated the popularity of this dish across entire India.
Shukto:
Bengali just loves it! This tasteful Bengali dish is yet another surprise having its origin in Portuguese cuisine. The Portuguese reign has influenced from Goa to eastern Bengal and that’s why we can see its influence in Bengali food today.
Tea:
Almost every Indian household kicks off a day with hot tea. Surprisingly, this mood-booster beverage has its origin in China. It is said that the Chinese used it as a medicinal drink, and Britishers later discovered it only to make it versatile worldwide. And ever since that, tea( chai) has become a part of Indian culture!
Jalebi:
This savory dish is loved by almost all Indians. Its scrumptious taste rightly tingles one’s taste buds in every bite. Originally called zalabiya(Arabic) or the zalibiya (Persian), the mouth-watering dish was brought to India by Persian invaders.
Naan:
This dish is quite famous all over the world. Basically, Naan is a staple of North India, however it is not Indian. The Mughals brought it to India. This much-loved dish has its roots in Persia.
Rajma:
Synonymous with healthiness, Rajma(Kidney Beans) have spread across India from northern regions. This staple food is truly loved by many. These healthy beans were brought to India by Guatemala and Mexico. Interestingly, kidney beans are widely used in Mexican cuisine even today.
